No fear if you have no experience at all, because we will teach you everything you need to know. We offer volunteers a flexible schedule with day and evening hours as well as Saturdays. Construction Site Age Requirements INDIVIDUALS Between 14 and 15 years of age are allowed to be on-site when all heavy construction is completed. These individuals can do non-construction activities, which include painting and landscaping. Individuals in this age group are not allowed to do demolition, roofing, use power tools or work at heights above ground level. INDIVIDUALS BETWEEN 16 AND 18 YEARS OF AGE are welcome to volunteer. They are allowed to do general carpentry, which can include activities such as hammering, painting, etc. They are not allowed to do demolition, roofing, use power tools, or work at heights above ground level. We require that anyone under the age of 18 be supervised by an adult 21 years or older. A supervision ratio of one adult to four youth is required. ReStoreVolunteers will work with the ReStore Coordinator to greet and offer assistance to our customers. Load and unload sales and donations, clean items, stock and re-arrange shelves. On occasion, there may also be some heavy lifting involved. ReStore Volunteer Hours
ReStore Age Requirements Individuals must be at least 16 years old to volunteer individually at the ReStore. Those between the ages of 14 and 15 years are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years or older. Construction Site GreeterThe Construction Site Greeter will help greet Saturday volunteers, make sure all of the volunteers have signed in and signed a waiver. The Greeter will also help with other duties as assigned by the Director of Construction. This volunteer position does not require a lot of physical activity. Construction Site Greeter Age Requirements A Construction Site Greeter must be at least 16 years or older. Saturday LunchProvide Saturday lunch to those volunteering the entire day. Saturday lunch volunteers help provide for groups as small as five and large as 30 people. Suggested meal items include - stews, soups casseroles, and pasta dishes, sandwiches (lunch meat and cheese, and/or peanut butter and jelly). Condiments such as mayonnaise and mustard can be brought in jars. Cut-up veggies, fresh fruit and dessert are always a good item, too. Meals are served buffet style, outdoors on the building site. Cups, plates, napkins, cutlery and serving utensils can also be donated. For more information, please call (712)328-9476. Other Volunteer OpportunitiesHabitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs will occasional have a need for volunteers to serve on committees, help with fundraisers, help with ceremonies and dedications, provide office assistance as well as other such things that might come up.
